Head of research group in electrical engineering (f/m/d)

At the Institute of Agricultural Technology in Braunschweig, we are researching new technologies for smart circular agriculture. Digitalisation is playing an increasingly important role in creating the conditions for disruptive changes in agricultural production systems. We are therefore researching the potential of sensors and digital technologies for crop production and livestock management with the aim of creating more sustainable and integrated production systems.

To strengthen our interdisciplinary team, we are looking for a

Head of a research group

in electrical engineering (f/m/d)

in a permanent position (100 %) as soon as possible (01.11.2023 at the earliest) in Braunschweig.

Main duties of the post holder:

  • Establishing and managing your own research group
  • Managing the electronics team
  • Developing creative and innovative technical solutions in the field of digital agriculture
  • Supporting and advising colleagues in all areas of work related to electrotechnical issues
  • Preparation of scientific publications and statements for policy advice
  • Presenting results at national and international conferences
  • Designing and acquiring of projects within inter-institutional networks
  • Supervising of Master and PhD theses

Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge:

Essential

  • University degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in electrical engineering or a related subject such as mechanical engineering, process engineering, physics, computer science or related subjects with sound knowledge of electrical engineering
  • Proven scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Knowledge of the technical rules and regulations for electrical engineering applicable in Germany or willingness to acquire the necessary knowledge
  • Goal-oriented and independent working style, high degree of initiative
  • Enjoying research work in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Affinity to agriculture
  • Openness and interest in the development of new circular agricultural methods
  • Very good knowledge of English and, if only good basic knowledge of German is available, willingness to continue learning German; very good knowledge of German is an advantage; official language is German

Desirable

  • Proven ability to conduct independent scientific work through doctoral studies desirable
  • Project management experience is an advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of digital agriculture is an advantage

The employment relationship is based on the provisions of the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD). Remuneration is paid according to pay grade 14 TVöD provided that requirements are met.
