The Institute of Market Analysis of the Johann Heinrich von Thünen-Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries, in Braunschweig is offering an 80 % (31.2 hours) part-time position starting as soon as possible and limited until 28.02.2029 for a

Research Scientist (f/m/d)

for the research project „Advancing Capacity and analytical Tools for supporting Common Agricultural Policies post 2027”.

The Sustainability Development Goals of the United Nations, the Green Deal, and the Farm-to-Fork strategy of the EU set ambitious targets in terms of environmental and climate protection as well as the promotion of more sustainable diets which will influence agricultural markets. The potential reorientation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2027 offers the opportunity to address these aspects more target-oriented. The project ACT4CAP27 will carry out model-based policy impact assessments to analyse specific policies and derive their possible effects. Therefore, the project will develop databases and modules for agricultural market models with a focus on future policies and their contribution to proclaimed policy targets. In addition, a wide range of scenarios will be developed and analysed to quantify the impact of new CAP policies or the accession of Ukraine to the EU.

The work is part of the research project "Advancing Capacity and analytical Tools for supporting Common Agricultural Policies post 2027 (ACT4CAP27)" funded under Horizon Europe. The aim of the project is to extend existing models with regard to representing new policies. The project brings together researchers from several European countries. The offered position is part of the team “Model-based Policy Impact Assessment” at the Institute of Market Analysis <https://www.thuenen.de/en/institutes/market-analysis> and will work closely with the CAPRI-team in the Institute of Farm Economics <https://www.thuenen.de/en/institutes/farm-economics>.
