Researcher (f/m/d)
agricultural economics

in the research project “Crop yield and optimized N fertilization in a changing climate (KlimaN)”.

Reducing the relatively high levels of nitrogen fertiliser use is a key factor in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture. Climate change, and in particular unexpected extreme weather events such as heat waves and severe droughts, place increased demands on farm management to achieve high fertiliser efficiency. Against this background, the KlimaN project is investigating how N fertilisation adapted to climate change can be implemented on farms and how climate change affects yields and the potential for increasing N efficiency. The work is being carried out in collaboration with the Thünen Climate Protection Centre.

Your task:

  • statistical analyses of the impact of selected extreme weather events on crop yields based on existing yield statistics

Professional requirements profile:

  • good University degree (M.Sc., Univ. Diploma) in agricultural economics or comparable disciplines, economic focus is an advantage
  • very good knowledge and proven experience in multivariate statistics and proficiency in R
  • experience in risk-related analysis
  • experience in the use of weather data is an advantage

Personal requirements profile:

  • enjoyment of scientific work in interdisciplinary project contexts
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • analytical thinking skills, critical judgement
  • very good knowledge of English, written and spoken
