The Center for Information Management of the Thünen Institute is looking for the following position within the framework of the BMBF-funded interdisciplinary project "BreedFides" starting as soon as possible (01.06.2022) and is limited to 24 months.

a Software Developer (FH-Diploma or Bachelor) (f/m/d)

Within the project, a federated trustee platform for research and economic data on crop plants will be developed and tested. Together with our project partners, currently scattered data rooms are to be integrated into this platform, and data sets are to be combined in an analytically suitable structure. The Thünen Institute is in charge of the work package "Interfaces to other data ecosystems".

Your responsibilities in the project:

• Identification and description of relevant data ecosystems, such as the NFDI, FAIR-DataSpaces, GAIA-X, and EOSC, and participation in networking activities with these
• Summarizing interface specifications of the data domains
• Exemplary implementation of data retrieval through these interfaces and integration into the own data trustee space. For example, as part of the integration of soil data from the Thünen Institute via the existing geodata infrastructure or integration of weather and climate data from the DWD
• Close cooperation with work package 4 "Federated data infrastructure for a data trusteeship" led by IPK Gattersleben
• Contributions to the organization of workshops in the work package and for the project as a whole
• Installation and administration of Linux systems in close cooperation with the team of information technology

Professionally, we would like you to have:

• A Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science or similar
• Practical experience in (web) development, preferably with frameworks such as Django, Angular or VueJS
• Knowledge of providing data using web services, such as REST APIs
• Initial experience in the use of data transformation processes (ETL)
• Initial experience working with database management systems
• Knowledge of open-source development and version management with git
• Ideally, you already have experience in the administration of Linux systems, especially with Ubuntu and Docker

• Secure active and passive knowledge of English and at least basic knowledge of German (A2 or higher)
