Seas

Seas are complex ecosystems. They are literally "overbooked" by different, often competing, use and protection interests. To gauge how best to fit fisheries into them, we collect time-series data on the water body and seafloor, fish health, and other parameters.

How many marine litter lies at the sea floor?

Most of the trash in the sea eventually sinks to the bottom and escapes our view. The Thünen Institute investigates how much and what kind of trash lies there in its fisheries catches.
