The dissertation was written during the FNRproject KI_Wood-ID. This project was carried out from 2021 to 2024 in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM For the first time, Mr. Nieradzik worked on modeling and training AI systems that were able to automatically analyze certain types of wood in fiber materials. For this purpose, he developed a new object detector called “WoodYOLO,” which is based on the YOLO architecture and was optimized for fiber analysis on microscopic images.
