Wood protection? - For sure!

Standards cannot replace a textbook as they are intended to specify regulations as precisely as possible. This also applies to the complex national standard on wood preservation DIN 68800. For this reason, background and contexts are explained in detail in the newly published revised and illustrated practical commentary.

As a natural material, wood is subjected to the material cycle and has a limited life span depending on its durability. However, with suitable protective measures, wood damage can be prevented or at least delayed. The structural and chemical measures available are regulated in the DIN 68800 series of standards.

Together with other experts, Dr. Eckhard Melcher, who has been active for many years in national and international standardisation committees in the field of wood preservation and wood use, has newly explained the four-part series of DIN 68800 and commented on them in a practice-oriented manner. In the new version of the practical commentary, which has now been published, the background and interrelationships of the standard are presented in detail.

Planners and contractors in timber construction, timber engineers, experts and consultants, but also students and private users are thus provided with an up-to-date working aid on the complex subject of wood preservation and its peripheral areas, as well as for the correct choice of protective measures.
