Colored reference preparations for fiber material from the wood of the rubber tree

In the AI project for wood species identification in fibre materials (KI-Wood_ID), one of the most important factors is to generate as much training data as possible for machine learning. Specifically, reference wood samples must be macerated for this in a manner analogous to pulp production. Currently, 91 macerates have already been produced from 15 hardwood genera. A large number of microscopic preparations must then be made from each one using various staining methods. A milestone has now been reached: more than 1500 slides have been prepared! The microscopic images of the entire area of the slides now serve as the data basis for the machine-learning system for wood species recognition in fibrous materials.
