In the beginning of August, the Thünen Institute of Sea Fisheries has put its new working boat "Krabbe" into service and extends the range of the Thünen research vessels into inner coastal waters of the North Sea.

Similar to its sister ship "Belone" from the Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries, the new multi-purpose boat is a 7.60 m aluminum catamaran constructed by the Finnish manufacturer Faster. With its large working deck, two 80 HP outboarders and its various winches and frames on board, the "Krabbe" provides a multifunctional platform for diverse research studies of the coastal ecosystem of the North Sea.
