A study in cooperation with WWF Germany and Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry looked at the factors that refrain small-scale forest owners from expanding rotation periods for acacia plantations to produce sawlogs.


In 2018, the implementation of the European Timber Regulation (EUTR) by German importers was examined at TI WF.


In 2011 the Federal Government adopted its Forest Strategy until the year 2020. The Thuenen-Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics has evaluated the implementation of the strategy in co-operation with the Länder.


At 29.10.2019 the German-Ukrainian Agrarian Policy Dialog (APD) organized a conference in Kiev on "Analysis of timber market data – new opportunities for the Ukraine" with strong support by the Thünen-Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics (TI-WF).


On October 4th, 2019, Federal Minister Julia Klöckner visited the Thünen Institute in Hamburg, to keep herself informed about ongoing research on forests and wood utilisation.
