Purpose:  Hydroacoustic recordings in the Öresund

Main aim of the cruise is hydroacoustic monitoring of clupeid distribution in the Sound and adjacent areas: Estimation of distribution and stock size parameters of small pelagics (herring and sprat) contributing to concurrent investigations (FRV Solea) in the framework of the international, ICES-coordinated Baltic International Acoustic Survey (BIAS).

Tasks of the cruise are: hydroacoustic monitoring of clupeid distribution and abundance in the Sound, comparison of diurnal distribution patterns and shallow water distribution with concurrent BIAS autumn acoustic survey conducted on board FRV Solea: reference fishing on selected fishery stations, length and weight measurements, fish sampling for age determination, hydrographic water sampling, pelagic trawling (also see Solea, Cruise 840).
