The team Research Data and Geodata supports scientists in transporting, storing, organising and annotating data from observations, measurements and surveys. A particular focus lies on ensuring data security and data quality and the selection of suitable software and data formats.
The processing of scientific data often includes computational steps for data cleansing and transformation before the data are ready for analysis or can be used as input for simulation models. Through all steps of data processing, ensuring reproducibility and tracking the provenance of data and code are required to meet the central principles of good scientific practice. We advise researchers on techniques, strategies, conventions and tools that can help with this task.
Gaining knowledge through computational modelling and simulation plays an important role in current scientific practice. Large data volumes and complex computer models require specific IT resources. The team Research Data and Geodata acts as an intermediary between the research groups and the division information technology to help with the seamless provision of the required resources.
