The development of Organic agriculture depends on experimental research. The research on station completes descriptive research of the state of organic farming under practical conditions. The research methods are not different to methods used in conventional agricultural research.

Research farm

On the research farms experiments are conducted under standardized conditions. The infrastructure of the research farm allows analysis along the process chain from feed production to animals husbandry till the final products and allows the reproduction of agricultural product systems.

Scientific technical unit

The scientific technical unit supports the technical and practical implementation of research projects, data collection and management, and preparation of further analysis in the laboratory. Work takes place both on the research station and on practical farms.

Maintenance

The maintanance departement repairs and services both the agricultural and the research machinery. The maintenance supports the technical implementation of research (plot trials, technical equipment in animal husbandry and crop productin).

Laboratory

Product quality, animal welfare and environmental parameter are in the focus of the laboratory at the research station. Chemical, molecular and parasitological analysis is possible. The laboratory is situated in the historical farm buildings in Trenthorst which have been renovated till 2013.
