Measurement of ammonia emissions using passive samplers in winter wheat at the Linner See/Osnabrück site

The authors evaluated NH3-emissions and yield data in winter wheat from the 4 trial sites. In addition to a mineral fertilizer treatment with calcium
ammonium nitrate, the application of cattle slurry and digestate by trailing hose with and without acidification, as well as slot injection with and without the addition of a nitrification inhibitor were investigated. In the comparison of the two substrates, NH3-emissions were significantly higher with digestate application than with cattle slurry. In the comparison of techniques, acidification showed the highest reduction potential of the emission-reducing techniques with up to 64%. The use of the slot injection (only for the 1st application) led to an average reduction of 23%. The addition of a nitrification inhibitor had no effect on NH3-emissions. No yield differences of the organically fertilized treatments were found.
