This study explores whether varying amounts of added litter influence long-term carbon mineralization and stabilization in forest topsoil and subsoil. Our findings indicate that increasing litter inputs did not affect mineralization rates or the efficiency of stable carbon formation, suggesting that higher inputs could lead to proportional increases in SOC stocks over time. These results provide new insights into soil carbon sequestration potential and its relevance for climate mitigation strategies.
