ICOS Overview Article Published

ICOS, the Integrated Carbon Observation System, is a European research infrastructure for the observation of greenhouse gases in terrestrial ecosystems, atmosphere, and oceans. The German contribution is coordinated at Thünen Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture (AK). A concise overview article illustrates the development of the network and the current station distribution.

It is further described how

  • standardization of the measurements is achieved
  • funding of the network is being organized
  • access to data and measurement protocols is provided
  • data products for policy and society are generated.
