How to find Rostock

The Thünen Insitute of Baltic Sea Fisheries is located in Rostock, Alter Hafen Süd 2, Tel.: +49 381 66099 102.

From the east and the west, take the Autobahn A 20 Lübeck-Szczecin, from the south the Autobahn A 19 Berlin-Rostock. Exit Rostock-West towards Warnemünde (B 103). Take the 1st exit onto Schmarler Damm in the direction of Fischereihafen. After the railroad overpass turn right into the Marieneher Straße. After the pedestrian bridge with the sign “Fischereihafen" turn left into the "Alter Hafen Süd" street. The institute is located at the end of the street.

Main train station Rostock, transfer to the tram towards Warnemünde und exit at the Marienehe Station (4th Station, about 10 minutes). The walk to the institute requires about seven minutes.

Fly to Hamburg or Berlin, then take the train to Rostock (see above). Or travel from the Rostock-Laage Airport with the airport bus to the main train station, then continue with the tram line. With small sea planes you can land directly on the Warnow river at our institute. 

From the hotels in Warnemünde with the S-Bahn towards Rostock (main train station) to the Marienehe station (10 minutes). From the hotels in Rostock from the main train station with the S-Bahn towards Warnemünde to the Marienehe station (10 minutes). From hotels at the city center or from Doberaner Platz with the tram line line 1 (towards Mecklenburger Allee/Rügener Str.) or line 5 (towards Mecklenburger Allee) to the Marienehe station. Then by foot towards the east (leave the S-Bahn platform to the left over the overpass, leave the tram platform to the left and then over the overpass) via another pedestrian overpass to the fishing harbour. Alternatively, from the hotels in the city center or at Doberaner Platz, take tram line 1, 2 or 5 to the Holbeinplatz stop. From there, take bus 34 to the Alter Hafen Süd stop.
