Thuenen Delegation in Japan

The Thünen Institute of Wood Research took part in the 56th Annual Meeting of the International Research Group on Wood Protection (IRGWP) in Yokohama, Japan. In total, five presentations were given on the following topics: Structural health assessment of wood, Fungal degradation of oak timber bridges and substitute timbers for Siberian larch, we were able to contribute to current research on wood protection. The lecture on the investigation of the water absorption of wood was awarded the Ron Cockcroft Award. The IRG is the most important specialist conference for wood protection. The Thünen Institute of Wood Research is working intensively on this topic to ensure the long-term and therefore sustainable use of wood.
