The AI_Wood-ID project at the FNR seminar series "Digitalization of forestry and wood"

We were happy to present our project as part of the online seminar on "Tree stem and wood species identification using AI".

The FNR online seminar series "Digitalization of forestry and wood" took place for the 7th time on 11 January 2024 and met great interest with over 200 participants. The offer was aimed at all those involved in the forestry and wood sector as well as all other interested people.
The topic of "Tree stem and wood species identification using AI" was explained in three presentations on this day. Together with our project partner Markus Rauhut from the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM, Stephanie Helmling presented the progress of the project "Automated wood species identification in microscopic images of fiber materials using machine learning / AI". The new EU regulation EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) was also referred to in the presentation.

The session - like the previous ones - was recorded and can be accessed via the link below. The presentations of the lectures can also be found there. The next event will take place on March 14, 2024 on the topic of "Tree species selection and risk assessment with forecasting tools".
