First surveys within the monitoring project Resource Monitoring Wood have been sent out

As part of the new permanent task "resource monitoring wood", the first questionnaires have been sent out. Survey results will provide a better overview of wood use and production in the pulp industry as well as the wood-based panel industry.

The project "resource monitoring wood" was developed in 1999 under the direction of Prof. Udo Mantau (University of Hamburg) and by stakeholders of the wood market. Enquiries were carried out on the basis of third-party funded projects. The findings from the monitoring provide an important basis for the forest based sector in Germany. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) has now handed over the continuation of the resource monitoring wood to the Thünen Institute for Forestry in Hamburg as a permanent task. In the future, regular surveys will be carried out within this framework.
