mixoploids

Physiological investigations on photosynthetic capacity and water use efficiency of poplar clones of different ploidy (Mixoploide)

Investigation subjects are isogenic poplar clones of different ploidy. They will be analyzed for relationships between poplar plant ploidy and photosynthesis and water use efficiency. The following topics will be focused on: How does different ploidy influence plant growth? Are there any relationships between poplar plant ploidy and photosynthesis and water use efficiency of leaves? The cloned plant material will be generated in the Institute of Forest Genetics of the vTI.

Background and Objective

Relations between different clones  and poplar species as well as isogenic lines different in ploidy based on physiological parameters will be investigated.

Approach

Different physiological and morphological parameters will be tested under controlled conditions.
