Wildlife ecology

We can identify the habitat needs of red deer from information on where they are located. Red deer are our largest free-ranging type of game and they are seen as the key game species for intact habitats due to their special demands on their environment. For over ten years we have been receiving data per SMS from almost 100 animals equipped with transmitters from different types of landscapes. This familiarises us with their preferred habitats and migration corridors - essential knowledge for healthy herds adapted to their environment. We use this knowledge to establish targeted management plans with set resting areas and the main hunting grounds. This enables us to reduce conflicts between forest- and game management.
