Recording the vegetation

The occurrence of plants characterizes the forest. The composition and structure of the vegetation are important parameters for biodiversity and allow conclusions to be drawn about the forest site.

As part of the Adaptive Forest Resource Management for a Sustainable Timber Industry in the Brandenburg-Berlin Region / ADAPT-Wald-Holz project (link to project page: ADAPT-Wald-Holz), we are monitoring changes in vegetation at the Kienhorst forest real-world laboratory test site in the Schorfheide-Chorin biosphere reserve in north-eastern Brandenburg: ), we are monitoring changes in the vegetation of an acidophilous blueberry-pine forest after regular logging operations and are investigating in particular the impact of skid trails and the influence of wildlife on the development of natural regeneration in the stand and in fenced areas to prevent browsing by game.
