The dissertation was produced within the framework of the LandLessFood project. In cooperation with the Thünen Institute of Organic Agriculture, new concepts for food and feed production were developed here, in which nutrients are extracted from waste streams. Mr. Tölle worked, within the sub‑project LandLessFood‑blue, on the development of a co‑culture strategy for microalgae and filamentous fungi in a marine environment with the aim of reducing downstream costs. By using alternative nutrient sources, Mr. Tölle identified suitable microorganisms for biomass production and bio‑flocculation—a process in which the microalgal cells adhere to the fungal mycelial surface. After optimizing the process, Mr. Tölle analyzed and evaluated the composition and nutritional suitability of the microorganisms employed.
Congratulations!
