Analysis of biannual livestock census and forecast of gross indigenous production (GIP) of beef and pork in Germany for the coming 18 month
Developments in the pig and cattle markets as well as the markets of processed meat products are continually observed and studied. Issues are livestock, slaughter, trade, additional economic and political facts. Analysis results in forcasts of gross indigenous production in Germany for the next 18 month.
In accordance with EU Council Regulation (EG) No. 1165/2008 EU-member states have to report regularly livestock, actual and expected meat production. In Germany the Thünen-Institute of Market Analysis carries out the these obligatrion for beef and pork on behalf of the federal government. The investigation serves to assess supply situation of meat and meat products.
Detailed and actual information about the situation on beef and pork markets as well as about the estimated development help market participants (farmers, slaughterhouses, meat processing industry, food retailers) and public institutions to assess supply situation of the German meat market.
By using the development of livestock meat production will be estimated. Additionally information about slaughtering, trade, consumption and price reporting will be considered for calculation.
