The meaning of a circular bio-economy in the forestry sector

A literature review brings clarity

What is the connection between terms like circular economy, bio-economy, sustainable development, transformation and bioresources? The multi-stakeholder dialogue platform of the forest and timber industry "Charter for Wood 2.0" wants to create a common understanding on the meaning of a circular bio-economy. Therefore, the Thünen Institute, being responsible for the evaluation of the Charter, has now undertaken a literature study. With the report we want to facilitate constructive discussions across the sector on implementation and potential benefits. A transformation can only be carried out sustainably through a joint exchange on the desired goals.
