TiMBA now officially listed in the EU Commission’s modelling inventory (MIDAS)

The TiMBA model (Timber‑market Model for Policy‑Based Analysis), developed at the Thünen Institute of Forestry, is now formally included in the EU’s MIDAS database (Modelling Inventory and Knowledge Management System of the European Commission).

MIDAS, run by the JRC’s Competence Centre on Modelling, aims to catalogue, assess and document models used in evidence‑based policymaking, enhancing transparency and quality in impact assessments.

TiMBA is a partial equilibrium model representing global wood flows across value chains, continuously developed and applied in bioeconomy, climate and resource policy analyses.

By including it in the MIDAS inventory, the European Commission emphasizes the relevance of TiMBA for European policy advice – particularly regarding wood use and bioeconomic transformation pathways.
