A recent edition of the programme "42 - the answer to almost everything" on the ARTE channel deals with causes for the endangerment of many shark species in the world's oceans and possible consequences of their disappearance. The shark expert Dr. Matthias Schaber is a member of the cartilaginous fish working group of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), the Shark Specialist Group of the World Conservation Union IUCN and conducts research at the Thünen Institute on the endangered tope shark, which is also native to the North Sea.
