If you are looking for expert knowledge on the state of the Baltic Sea and its inhabitants, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the place to be: four research institutions regularly contribute their Baltic Sea expertise to national and international marine policy here - the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency Rostock, the German Maritime Museum Stralsund, the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde and the Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries. Since 2014, they have jointly organized the Baltic Sea Day - usually every two years - to present this combined expertise to the public and provide insights into current research.
