For a successful climate protection policy, it is essential to know what contribution forests and utilized wood can make to climate protection in Germany now and in the future. The Scientific Advisory Council for Forest Policy (WBW) at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Home Affairs (BMLEH) has therefore drawn up a new statement on the topic of “Determining the climate protection performance of forests and wood use: guidance in a controversial debate”. The document was presented to the Parliamentary State Secretary at the BMLEH, Martina Englhardt-Kopf, at the beginning of July.
The aim of the statement is to clearly illustrate the complexity of the climate protection performance of forests and wood use, to point out key points in the determination of climate protection performance and to provide recommendations on how to deal with this topic in the social and political debate.
