The arboretum and the greenhouse of the Thünen Institute provide important forest and timber tree species from all continents and climatic zones for teaching and research.
The collection of the Thünen Institute and the University of Hamburg houses around 10 000 specimens and covers the areas of classical herbarium, fossils, wood damage, forest secondary use and wood-based materials.
