In its long-term vision for rural areas, the European Commission announced that it will introduce a rural proofing mechanism for all its initiatives – and has invited the member states to follow its lead.

What does rural proofing mean? And what impacts can be expected? The presentation, held (in German) as part of the series “new rurality” organised by the Mecklenburger AnStiftung, deals with the experiences so far and discusses the general potential of this instrument.

The presentation and the following discussion – along with other contributions of the series – can be found at the Mecklenburger AnStiftung’s website. The presentation on rural proofing was held on October 4, 2022.
