Consistently critical reports appear about the forest degradation/destruction and illegal timber harvest. Many the question arise of whether timber and wood based products can be purchased in good conscience. Matthias Dieter and Ulrich Bick, scientists at the Thünen Institute for International Forestry and Forest Economics are dealing with the extent and the reasons for forest destruction. They also are concerned with terms of evidence of legality and the certification of forest management and wood based products.
