The Rector of the University of Rostock, Prof. Dr. phil. Elisabeth Prommer, invited guests to the 14th Academic Year Reception on behalf of the Rostock Science and University Region. This year's reception was held under the motto ‘What kind of future do we want to live in?’.

After hopeful and cautionary welcoming remarks by the rector, the Minister of Science Bettina Martin and the Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger, the eleven participating research institutes each gave a three-minute presentation on their ideas and work on this topic.

In her presentation ‘Ostseefischerei mit Zukunft?!’, Dr Fanny Barz from the Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries highlighted the challenges facing German coastal fisheries and how the Think Tank Coastal Fisheries 2045 project worked with stakeholders to develop new visions for a shared and sustainable use of the Baltic Sea.
