The second pillar of our work is providing advice. We utilise the results of our groundwork and our long-term data sets to develop different policy options. These recommendations are always science based, and we try to communicate the effects of specific decisions as well as the limitations of our advice transparently.

Advisory statements

Policy makers are the primary addressees of our advice. We usually provide advisory statements or comments on request, on general or specific questions.

Fischbestände online

Fischbestände online (fish stocks online) is a public web service providing reliable and up-to-date information on all aspects of the sustainable use of all major fish stocks sold on the German market.

Ecolabelling

Ecolabelling is an approach to involve retailers, industry and end consumers in making fisheries more sustainable, by creating the right incentives for voluntary measures.

ICES work

The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) is the oldest inter-governmental organisation in the world. Within the ICES framework, we coordinate our data collection programs with European partner institutions.
