Fields of Activity

  • Design of experimental trawls and accessories for fishing research vessels
  • Improvement of the escape possibilities for flatfishes from trawls by lateral grids and through special escape openings
  • Reduction of the by-catch of cod in fishing for flounder and plaice by using top reduced bottom trawls
  • Investigations on the escape behavior (escape direction, escape time) of fish in trawls

Research Interests

  • Reduction of by-catch in active and passsive fishing gear
  • Development, design and calculation of fishing gears and mechanical test equipment
  • Reducing negative impacts of fishing gear on the environment
