Educational background and employment

  • since August 2009: Scientist at the Institute of Sea Fisheries, Hamburg. Analyses of commercial fisheries data (Vessel Monitoring Data (VMS), log books, landings data), Analyses of spatial conflicts and opportunities of co-use, political consulting. Projects: „Study for the Revision of the plaice box“, “COEXIST”, “VECTORS”, “MaKramee”.
  • September 2008 to July 2009: PostDoc at the Institute of Hydrobiology at the Technical University of Dresden, Working group Limnology, in the project "Development of strategies and techniques for a sustainable restoration, stabilisation and management of the Hoan-Kiem-Lake, Hanoi/Vietnam" (BMBF).
  • December 2006 to July 2009: PostDoc at the Institute of Hydrobiology at the TU Dresden, Working group Limnology, in the project "Indirect effects of top-down control of the pelagic food web on the phosphorus budget: field experiment in the Saidenbach Reservoir" (DFG Be 1671/8-3).
  • January 2006: Dissertation at the University of Potsdam. Doctoral thesis: "Changes in structure and function of the fish community in a mesotrophic lake ecosystem after stocking a non-native top predator".
  • October 2005 to May 2006: PostDoc at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), Institute of Hydrobiology and Aquatic Ecosystem Management (IHG), in the project “Model Based Instrument for River Restauration (MIRR)”, in cooperation with the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries Berlin (IGB).
  • March 2001 to September 2005: PhD student at the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries Berlin (IGB). Biology and Ecology of Fishes, in the projekt "Changes in structure and function of a fish community in a mesotrophic lake after enhancement of piscivorous fish biomass (food web manipulation)" (DFG Me 1686/4-1 und 4-2).
  • February 2001: Master thesis: “The position of eel (Anguilla anguilla) in the food web of Saidenbach Reservoir and its relevance as piscivore for biomanipulation”.  Subjects: hydrobiology, microbiology, hydro science and engineering.
  • 1997/98: Participation in an ERASMUS exchange program with the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, UK; third year project: "Mortality and growth of Crangon crangon in laboratory conditions".
  • 1994: Beginning to study Biology at Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, Bonn.
