Focus of Research:

Provenance research to study the genetic variation of important characters of different tree species, especially European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)

Gene conservation of tree species, especially black poplar (Populus nigra L.)

Tree improvement of fast growing tree species, in particular poplar, aspen and black locust

Assessment of tree species for agroforestry including short rotation plantations

Projects under Third-Party-Funding:

Raising the productivity, resistance and adaptability in poplar: Development of gene markers in segregating populations – gene marker for aspen in Russia “MaRussiA“, BLE Bonn, 2015-2018

Selection of drought tolerant black locust of international provenances for energy production, FNR Gülzow, grant –no.: 22024011, funding period: 01.04.2013 to 30.06.2017
