Provenance research to study the genetic variation of important characters of different tree species, especially European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)
 
Gene conservation of tree species, especially black poplar (Populus nigra L.) 

Tree improvement of fast growing tree species, in particular poplar, aspen and black locust

Assessment of tree species for agroforestry including short rotation plantations
