The state of both cod stocks in the Baltic Sea is pretty bad. Targeted cod fishing has been banned since 2024. Nevertheless, cod still end up in the net as unwanted bycatch. The Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries has been working for many years on net modifications to prevent cod bycatch. In this film, we show how “Roofless” - one of our developments - works.
