Regional data collection group on long-distance fisheries meets in Hamburg

From 06-08 June 2017, scientists from Germany (Thünen Institute of Sea Fisheries), Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland and Spain meet in Hamburg to discuss regional sampling of long-distance fisheries.

The 'Regional Coordination Meeting for the Long-Distance Fisheries' (RCM LDF), chaired by Sieto Verver (IMARES, NL), inter alia collates basic data on fishing activities and sampling in the southern Atlantic and South Pacific to ensure sufficient biological sampling of the fisheries and stocks. So-called 'multilateral agreements' between EU Member States fishing small pelagic fish off NW Africa and in the SE Pacific play a major role in this context.
