Standardisation related to wood
Support of elaboration of wood related standards (DIN, CEN, ISO)
For technological progress, standardised poducts and processes, and for cross boarder exchange of goods and services harmonized standards related to round and sawn timber are indispensible.
Background and Objective
Members of the Thuenen-Institute of Wood Reserach represent the German interests related to round and sawn timber in international standadisation.
Approach
Over the last 20 years approximately 150 wood related national standards had to be harmonized on European level. For doing so international working groups were set up to elaborate harmonized standards. Regularly members of the Institute are appointed to support these working groups. In projects test methods and analysing methods in the field of wood property testing, wood utilisation and wood pretection are developed, tested, and optimised.
