Transforming Mountain Forestry - 18.-22.01.2015

The work section Sustainable Tropical Forest Management has been represented by Dr. Margret Köthke at the event "Transforming Mountain Forestry" in Dehradun, India.

The 5-day symposium has been organized by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Forest Research Institute (FRI), India and the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The objective of the symposium was to identify sustainable forest management practices and policies that can address the changing conditions in the Hindukush-Himalaya region and to propose a way to meet the current challenges in the mountain forest sector by addressing conservation and inclusive development simultaneously.

The symposium has been attended by about 250 participants from 15 countries, including ministers and parliamentarians from the Hindukush-Himalaya states. Further informationen is available at: http://www.icimod.org/tmf
