The protections, linked to inclusion the CITES list for all varieties of palisander and of Bubinga, present challenges for dealers and manufacturers of musical instruments and high value furniture, but also for the entire wood trade.
On June 7, more than 120 dealers, manufacturers and representatives from agencies, associations and NGOs came to an information event and an intensive exchange of information and opinions. Subsequently scientists and agency representatives from 26 countries took part in an international workshop during which the emphasis was on the determination and differentiation possibilities for CITES protected wood.
