Dr. Kübler holds a degree in Forestry Science from AgroParisTech in France and Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, and a PhD from TU München. He has extensive experience in interdisciplinary projects focusing on sustainable forest and land management and reforestation in various tropical countries.

Since 2020, Dr. Kübler has been with the Thünen Institute, where he initially contributed to the LaForeT-R² project. In this project, he analysed the impacts of various silvicultural practices on forest use and ecosystem services. His research focus then shifted to the management of CITES-listed and lesser-known timber species.

In his new position, Dr. Kübler will continue to research and develop strategies for sustainable and multifunctional forest management. His work will emphasize reforestation, restoration, and adaptation to climate change within a landscape context, particularly in the Global South.
