Participation at “2nd International Conference on Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management”

TI-WF und LaForeT project partner Philippines

The INREM Conference was organised by the Centre of Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management of the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) during 20.-22.11.2019 in Manila.

The conference was attended by 250 participants who represented a diverse spectrum of stakeholder groups, i.e. Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR), GIZ Philippines, representatives of local and regional government and none-government organisations (NGO) and the private sector.

The Thünen Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics (TI-WF) was represented by Azin Sadeghi, Karen Veridiano, Dr. Eliza Zhunusova, Pradip Kumar Sarker, Dr. Melvin Lippe, PD. Dr. Sven Günter, and Dir. Prof. Dr. Matthias Dieter.

The following philippine partner organisations of the Landscape Forestry in the Tropics (LaForeT) attended the conference as well: Assit. Prof. Dr. Cecille Mangabat - Isabela State University (ISU), Assit. Prof. Dr. Renz Come - Visayas State University (VSU), and Prof. Dr. Juan Pulhin - University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB).

TI-WF and LaForeT served as co-sponsor of INREM, and were given the opportunity to present the project current research findings by a plenary talk (PD Dr. Sven Günter) and a series of eight oral presentations that referred to different aspects of tropical forest landscapes and their challenges in the Philippines.
