Matthias Dieter appointed German representative at IUFRO International Council

The German forest research institutions appointed Prof Dr Matthias Dieter, head of the Thünen Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics, as German representative at the International Council of IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) for the period 2020-2024.

The International Council (IC) is the highest-level decision-making body of IUFRO. The IC is responsible for electing the President and Vice-Presidents of IUFRO and all voting members of the Board, deciding on the place and date of the next World Congress, deciding on changes in the IUFRO Statutes, and adjusting membership fees, among other things. The IC also advises the President and Board on major issues concerning IUFRO’s policy and strategy and approves the IUFRO Strategy.
