Dr. Susanne Iost studied Forest Sciences and did her PhD in the field of soil science. Her professional interests evolved from carbon and nitrogen dynamics in soils and management of geodata to sustainablity of bio-based renewable resources.
After research activities at Dresden University of Technology, Thünen Institute for Worldforestry and Universität Hamburg Dr. Iost joined Vattenfall in the production of woody biomass for energetic use.
At Thünen Institute, Dr. Iost will be working in the development of a systematic monitoring of bioeconomy. Key aspect is the definition of a sustainable resource base. The project is a joint effort with Thünen Institutes for Market Analysis and Sea Fisheries.
