From November 9 to 13, 2020 the 56th Council Meeting of the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) was held in virtual from due to the Corona pandemic.


For the enhancement of human resources and technical expertise from the forest and timber sector the International Tropical Timber organization (ITTO) launched a progamme which comprises the sponsorship for post-graduate studies, document publication and dissemination as well as travel grants.



For the third time after 2015 and 2018, in November 2020 the Global Bioeconomy Summit took place. Due to the Corona pandemic the event was completely virtual – a great challenge as people from all over the world participated.


Richard Fischer successfully defended his doctoral thesis on 20. November 2020. His dissertation is titled “Functional interrelations of governance elements and their effects on tropical deforestation - combining qualitative and quantitative approaches”. The work was carried out in cooperation…

DIY Stores tested

The German television channel NDR tested in its magazine MARKT (broadcasted on November 9, 2020) how good the advice was when buying FSC-certified decking boards in the DIY stores OBI, Bauhaus and Hornbach.



This study evaluates the synergies and trade-offs between ecosystem services and ecosystem service multifunctionality across different land use transition phases.
