Thünen scientists receive Marin Drăcea Award

The Romanian National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry celebrated its 85th anniversary by means of an international scientific conference from 17 to 21 September 2018.

During a celebration event on the last of the five conference days, the name giver of the Institute, Professor Marin Drăcea (1885 – 1958), was honoured as the promoter of modern silviculture in Romanian forestry. Moreover, the celebration included the unveiling of a bust of Marin Drăcea and grants of awards to several scientists.

Dr. Walter Seidling of Thünen-Institute of Forest Ecosystems and Dr. Martin Lorenz of Thünen-Institute of International Forestry and Forest Economics received the “Marin Drăcea Award and Diploma of Excellence”.
